The White City LARP Wiki

The White City is a Fantasy Live-Action Role-Playing game (aka “fantasy LARP” or “FLiRP”) run in Shotover Country Park in Oxford (UK) on Saturday afternoons under the auspices of OURPGSoc (the Oxford University RolePlaying Games Society) and open to all - the first two games are free!

We meet on Saturday mornings at 11am at the Magic Cafe on Magdalen Steet.

It's fairly generic high combat Sword & Sorcery fare in the usual linear LARP mould, but with a slightly non-standard feel to it. We aim to be welcoming to casual players and students on a tight budget, so running around having fun is more important to us than anything else. Hopefully everything you need to know about the game will be answered on one of the pages below.

This wiki is divided into several sections and contains everything you need to know:

NPC and Setting Information - For GMs to put information on people, places, artefacts and plot elements that have occured on their larps. Also includes Summaries of past LARPs.

Character Information - For players to upload details of their characters, including stats, background, significant actions and strange oddities.

System - For information on game rules, character creation, and character advancement.

Real World Information - For information on meeting places, mailing list, contact details, safety rules etc.

Title: Starlight Playtest 3

When/Where: 11am Magic Cafe

GM: Dave Ho

Level: N/A

Brief:

We're kicking off the round of playtests this weekend with a system that's already been playtested a few times over the past year - Starlight. Many of you have been along to the earlier playtests of the system and with your feedback it's now looking pretty good.

For those of you who haven't been along already - a short summary of the setting:

The Heroes have left, leaving behind the stars in the night sky. The world has fallen into disrepair and the forests are reclaiming the land, as those left behind abandon the will to change the world. But with the stars the Heroes left a legacy that a lucky few are slowly learning to control, and the almost-forgotten heroism of the past is rising once more…

And the system:

A simple and intuitive linear system focused around dynamic combat and character stories. The combat rules are designed to be simple and promote roleplaying as well as leading to interesting and varied fights. Characters are extremely flexible, progression is outwards rather than upwards, and death is not always the end.

Hopefully everyone who couldn't make it before will have an opportunity to see it first hand. As usual for Starlight, we'll run two linears this weekend giving as many people as possible the opportunity to play.

More information on the setting and system can be found on the design blog, here:
