Glass Ambassador, Shattered blood, Glass-encrusted eyes, purged of ash so will not die of age
Meredith was born to a low-ranking noble-woman of the Port of Glass and was one of Lemuel D'Artois's many, many illegitimate children. Her father paid her relatively little attention and as such she was not considered terribly important, despite being a direct child of the Duke. Her shattered blood marked her out with glass-encrusted eyes and consequently extremely poor eyesight. The family intended her to marry an member of the de Verlay family (who was rumoured to have been rather abusive to his first wife) but to save herself from a loveless marriage she fled the Port of Glass on the eve of her wedding.
She probably would have died alone in the wilderness if she had not happened upon a travelling Light sorcerer. He became her mentor and her lover, teaching her that the Light could cure the horrible blight the vitriarchs had placed upon her and her family. As time passed it became clear that her shattered blood would destroy her lover's mind eventually. Upon hearing that Lemuel had left the Port and abdicated the duchy, Meredith decided now was the time to return to her family. She convinced Karl to assign her to the White City embassy, having honed her skills as and exorcist proving that she could be useful to them. Now she seeks to free her family of their glass infestation and to bring those who might be saved towards the ways of the Light.
